ROD CRAIG
‘I work mainly from my Woodstock studio, although increasingly I can be found out in the landscape near my home and further afield. Watercolour is the perfect medium for capturing the energy and the drama of the landscape, I love its spontaneity. Whilst it is extremely challenging, it is also completely addictive – no other medium offers the same degree of fluidity and free mergings of colour.
The choice of paper plays a huge part in the character of the final piece – I’m currently working on a handmade Indian rag paper with a wonderful gritty texture and an unpredictable surface which I love.
Although I’ve painted since childhood, I switched to being a full time artist in 2010 after a long career in design. I now divide my time between Bath and Woodstock inspired by the contrast between city life and the Oxfordshire countryside.
I have work in collections in UK, Germany and New York and exhibit regularly.’
