SARAH CUNNINGAM
The Linocentric: Art by Sarah-Louise Cunningham
I am an amateur artist and lino printmaker based in the Cotswolds, originally from Ireland. My art draws inspiration from the natural beauty, wildlife, and architecture around my home near Blenheim Palace, as well as from my favourite hiking spots in Ireland, England, and around the world. Through The Linocentric, I create prints that capture the charm of countryside life—whether it’s lively pheasants, amusing geese, or Cotswolds / Ireland town and village scenes. Occasionally, I dive into abstract work that connects with everyday emotions and experiences.
Right now, I’m deep in my lino-print phase, but my creative journey also includes sketching and acrylic painting. I love experimenting with ways to express nature, architecture, and even the occasional portrait. My technique is still a work in progress, and every piece teaches me something new—I’m definitely still learning, growing and improving.
By day, I work in the wellbeing science industry, and I’m inspired by the wealth of evidence linking arts and cultural activities to personal wellbeing. In our always-on, digital world, I find calm and clarity in screen-free, mindful practices like sketching, carving, and printing, and I love exploring the countryside on long walks with family and friends - walks that often spark ideas for new work.
