JEAN-PIERRE DE ROSNAY
Jean Pierre de Rosnay was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, has lived and worked in Oxford and Woodstock for several years. He is a self-taught artist, working mainly in oils.
Jean Pierre's paintings take their inspiration from the work of photographers, geek culture, urban sports, and his own imagination. Although his work often has a dreamlike quality, his paintings often dwell on the very concrete beauty and potential of the human form. He is equally at home working with a muted and restricted palette, with deep shadows, the rich tones of skin, earth, and sea, or in bright, vivid colours; these last combine with moments of physical action and exuberance to give his series of paintings depicting skateboarders particular vibrance and joie de vivre.
